CS Magoha announces reopening of Universities and TVET institution from October 5
Final year students in all universities and tertiary institutions are expected to report back to class on Monday, October 5, in phased reopening,
Ministry of Education CS George Magoha has said.
The Boards of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutions (TVETs), Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) and University Councils
will announce the resumption date of physical learning for other classes.
All the institutions will be expected to adhere strictly to the Ministry of Health guidelines on COVID-19.
The learning institutions will be required to sporadically monitor temperatures for all students, enforce observance of hygiene as well
as adopt innovative ways of enforcing social distance.
Magoha further added that the examination of Teachers Training Colleges, as well as TVET institutions, will report on Monday, October 5.
He said the safe resumption of in-person learning in all Universities and Tertiary Institutions requires utmost fidelity to MoH’s protocols and guidelines.
Magoha’s directive comes a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday, September 28, issued directives regarding the impending reopening of
schools during the COVID-19 conference hosted at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC).
schools have been closed since the outbreak of Covid 19 pandemic in Kenya since march 2020 and there has been concern on when the schools will reopen.
